GARSTON GROWN VARIETIES

Why Garston Hops?

At Garston Hops, we know what hops need to thrive: plenty of water and sunlight, both of which our Southland location offers in abundance during the growing season. Our unique climate also provides the perfect winter dormancy, allowing our hops to gather the energy need to spring up and reach impressive heights. With rich soil, warm days and cool nights, we have an environmental ideal for cultivating hops with intense, punchy, and distinct aromas.

Our farm has a long history as a traditional sheep farm, and even now, with hops planted, we haven’t strayed from our roots. The sheep continue to graze beneath the hops, allowing us to practice a two-tier farming approach. We’ve diversified without taking anything away from the land - only adding to it.
